Also he probably has the coolest jet alt mode of any Transformer. In newest Transformer lore he has been rewritten as an ancient pre-war Transformer who cares for neither side and fights for whoever he believes is doing what's best for his species future. He is sometimes seen as the Ultra Magus of the Decepticons, committed to the Decepticon cause and law to a fault and lacking in much emotion or personality. Cyclonus is also gifted with intelligence, power and fighting skills. He is extremely loyal and is probably the most honourable Decepticon. CyclonusĬyclonus is a rarity among Decepticons. Thunderwing's biggest achievement was successfully claiming the Autobot Matrix and corrupting it. Thinderwing's shell is probably the strongest made, nearly indestructible and covered in weaponry. He is also a Pretender Transformer, meaning his true form is encased in a larger shell. Once he sets his sights on something he will let nothing stop him, including treachery and sacrificing his own men. An extremely powerful and ambitious Decepticon, Thunderwing could have become one of their greatest leaders if not for his obsessive personality. If you've never read any Transformers comics you've probably never heard of Thunderwing but he was one of the biggest Transformer villains back in the Marvel comic days. Lets start off with a bit of an obscure entry. Whatever the reason I know it made it very hard to pick just 10 but I think I've done a good job and hope you enjoy my countdown of the worst the Allspark ever spat out. Maybe it was because I thought they always had the better voice actors (Frank Welker, Steve Blum, Adam Baldwin). Maybe it was because their alt modes were tanks and jets and predatory animals. Maybe it was because they had cooler robot modes. I always gravitated more towards the purple brand. Now I have to admit I've only really been a fan of a few Autobots over the years (although the current comics are changing that, more on that next week) but Decepticons, now them I know quite a bit more about. Last time I counted down my pick of the greatest Autobots. Them to fly without the use of jets.Welcome back to my self-indulgent love of Transformers. Transform and also developed some form of anti-gravity that allowed However, the Decepticons eventually learned to Sentinels that protected cities, quelled uprisings, and generally did Robots (presumably based upon the Quintessons' Dark Guardians), New technology, they defeated the Decepticons and ruled for manyĬenturies in a "Golden Age." Peace was kept with the use of Guardian They turned to stealth, learning the art of transformation. The Autobots couldn't match the brute strength of the Decepticons, so The Matrix was already in existence at this point, apparently being passed from one Autobot leader to the next, as is the practice today. The Autobots then developed transformation and the guardian robots to defend themselves, and that was known as the 'Golden Age of Cybertron': While the Autobots preferred a peaceful existence, the Decepticons Themselves differently: The consumer goods robots called themselvesĪutobots, and the military hardware robots were known as Decepticons. Hardware was becoming acute, as the two groups had even named However, the division between consumer goods and military The Quintessons made the Transformers originally, though they didn't transform then, and the Transformers eventually turned on the Quintessons and drove them off the planet.Īfter the slaves drove the Quintessons away from Cybertron, peace Treachery has toppled many a peaceful Autobot ruler. Sides have claimed victory, but this has been short-lived, for theĪutobots have overthrown Decepticon tyrants, and, likewise, Decepticon And thus began a terrible series of wars. While many Autobots fled Cybertron, a few valiant survivorsĭevised new tactics and launched a counter-offensive on theirĪrch-foes. Not designed forĬombat, the Autobots were overwhelmed and subjugated by their evil Millions of years ago, Cybertron was a planet of peace.until theĭecepticons, lusting for power, began a terrible war. In Transformers G1 (The original 1984 series) the war on Cybertron was described in Episode 38 "Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 2" like this:
